If you invested through Crowd2Let, the property crowdfunding platform, there has been a significant development. On 16 July 2026 the Financial Services Compensation Scheme confirmed it is now open to claims against Prosper Capital LLP in relation to the activities of its appointed representative, Crowd2Let.
What has happened
Prosper Capital LLP (FCA reference 453007) acted as principal to Crowd2Let Capital Limited, which means it carried regulatory responsibility for Crowd2Let’s regulated activities. Prosper Capital was placed into creditors voluntary liquidation on 1 June 2026, and the FSCS is investigating the firm.
Claims can now be submitted through the FSCS online claim service. Be aware, though, that the FSCS will not pass claims for assessment straight away; it is still working out whether they meet the qualifying conditions for compensation.
This is a pattern we see often. Where an appointed representative caused the harm, the FSCS claim runs against the principal firm, because that is where regulatory responsibility and professional indemnity cover sat.
What this means for investors
If you put money into buy to let crowdfunding through Crowd2Let and believe you suffered loss, you now have a route to register a claim. If you had already complained to the Financial Ombudsman Service, it may contact you for permission to transfer your file to the FSCS. Either way, a claim to the FSCS still needs to be made.
