Pentagon Capital Management plc (FRN 189239) was an FCA-regulated investment fund manager that also attracted serious attention from US regulators. The Securities and Exchange Commission found that the firm had engaged in late trading in mutual funds between 2001 and 2003, a form of market manipulation that disadvantaged ordinary investors. The US court upheld those findings and ordered a fine of $76.8 million.

The firm entered administration in the UK in June 2012. The FSCS subsequently investigated its activities and, by June 2019, had concluded its initial review and passed claims through to its processing teams for individual assessment.
