LCM Family Limited Enters Administration: What Former Clients Need to Know
LCM Family Limited entered administration on 28 April 2026, just one day after an FCA probe led to concerns being raised publicly about the firm. Louise Longley and Gary Shankland of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint administrators. The FSCS has immediately opened an investigation to determine whether compensation is payable to clients. If you were a client of LCM Family Limited, or of its predecessor firm LCM Wealth Management Limited, this situation requires prompt attention.
LCM Family Limited (FRN 227651) had been directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority since October 2003. Based in the northwest of England, the firm provided wealth management, investment advice and related financial planning services. Unusually among financial advisory firms, LCM was also regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, allowing it to combine legal and financial services under one roof. At the time of its administration, it controlled approximately £89 million of client assets.
The FCA’s involvement prior to the administration highlights the seriousness of the regulatory concerns. When an FCA probe leads directly and swiftly to a firm entering administration, it often indicates that questions were raised about the firm’s financial position, its conduct or both. The administrators are working to understand the full picture and to take appropriate steps to protect client assets.
The FSCS investigation is at an early stage. The scheme will assess whether individual client claims meet the qualifying conditions for compensation, and where they do, it can pay up to £85,000 per eligible person. Given the volume of assets involved and the number of clients affected, this is a situation that will take time to resolve, and it is important for former clients to seek proper advice as early as possible.
