The Financial Services Compensation Scheme declared Gaudi Regulated Services Limited in default on 20 March 2026. For thousands of former clients who have spent years wondering whether their pension money could ever be recovered, this is a significant step forward. A default declaration means the FSCS is now legally able to assess and pay compensation to eligible customers.
What Was Gaudi Regulated Services?
Gaudi Regulated Services was a SIPP operator, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It did not sell its own branded pension product directly to the public. Instead, it provided what are known as white label SIPPs: pension wrappers that other financial advisory firms could brand and offer as their own. This arrangement placed Gaudi at the centre of countless pension arrangements across the UK, many of which later turned out to be seriously problematic.
Administration and the Scale of the Problem
The firm was placed into administration in April 2023, when its directors appointed joint administrators from Quantuma Advisory Ltd. At its peak, Gaudi administered SIPPs with a total value approaching £1 billion. The FSCS began its investigation shortly after and has been working through an intricate picture of business relationships, introducer arrangements and investment suitability.
The FSCS Investigation So Far
The FSCS has initially focused on a product known as the GRSL EasySIPP. Its investigation identified that certain clients in this cohort do have valid claims, particularly where they were advised to open a Gaudi SIPP by an FCA regulated financial adviser. Those claims are now being assessed individually by FSCS processing teams.
For customers with Gaudi SIPPs that were linked to an external business partner, the investigation is still ongoing. The FSCS has confirmed it will continue assessing claims on an individual basis as its work progresses.
What Should Former Gaudi Clients Do Now?
If you held a Gaudi SIPP and feel uncertain about whether you have grounds for a claim, please do not let that uncertainty hold you back. The advisers, operators and intermediaries involved in these arrangements had clear regulatory obligations. When those obligations were not met, the consequences fell on ordinary people who had done nothing wrong. That is the situation many Gaudi clients now find themselves in, and it is one they deserve help to address. You may be entitled to pension compensation of up to £85,000 through the FSCS.
