ALTi RE Ltd, the UK entity that traded under the name ALTi Tiedemann Global, entered administration on 10 July 2025. David Soden and Matthew Mawhinney of Teneo Financial Advisory Limited were appointed as joint administrators. The news came as a shock to many clients, given the firm’s prominent positioning in the wealth management space and its association with the broader AlTi Global group, which operates across the UK and the United States.
What Did ALTi Tiedemann Global Do?
AlTi Global publicly confirmed that it was winding down the international real estate business through the UK administration. ALTi RE Ltd had permission from the FCA to provide investment management services, including the management of real estate based alternative investment strategies. Clients typically held equity investments through the UK entity.
The FSCS Investigation
The FSCS began investigating within days of the administration appointment, on 15 July 2025. At that point, the scheme was closed to customer claims while it worked to understand the full picture. The FSCS’s more recent updates indicate that it is now working to establish whether UK investors who suffered losses on equity investments held with ALTi RE are owed redress.
Protecting Your FSCS Rights
Significantly, the FSCS has been directing customers away from a separate scheme being operated by the administrators, in order to preserve their rights under FSCS protection. This is an important detail: if you have already engaged with the administrator process, it does not necessarily affect your FSCS claim, but you should seek advice on your specific position.
Firms that present themselves as sophisticated wealth managers still carry the same regulatory obligations to their clients as any other FCA regulated business. If those obligations were not met, the clients who trusted the firm with their money have every right to pursue investment claims. You may also wish to explore financial adviser claims if you were introduced to the firm by a third party.
