How to claim
Companies House records show that The Mortgage Matters Partnership was dissolved on 30 December 2014, more than six years ago. A complaint can only be made to a firm that still exists, so the ombudsman route is not open, and because the company has been dissolved beyond the usual six year window for restoring it to the register, a claim against the firm’s own professional indemnity insurance is generally no longer realistic either.
That leaves the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the FSCS, as the route worth pursuing. The FSCS has already declared this firm in default, which means it is accepting claims against it. If you have only recently become aware that something went wrong, that is not unusual and it does not automatically put you out of time.
The practical challenge with a firm that closed years ago is evidence. Records are scattered or gone, and proving what you were advised to do, and why it was unsuitable, is rarely straightforward on your own. That is exactly the sort of work we take on, so it is worth speaking to us before assuming the case cannot be made.
